Abstract
Decisions to report children to Oranga Tamariki by school staff in Aotearoa New Zealand are consequential and common, yet little is known about why staff report or the context of reporting. This participant report outlines the main reasons for reporting, the relational context of reporting, and describes the dynamic feedback loop between Oranga Tamariki and school reporters. It highlights the disconnect between what schools are able to provide, and Oranga Tamariki's ability to respond to whānau need.
